Bill Ford Says Magna's Opel Purchase Isn't a Threat

Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford said he isn’t worried that Magna International Inc., a major supplier to his company’s electric car slated for 2011, is becoming a competitor by buying General Motors Co.’s Opel unit.

“I’ve talked to them about that and I feel very comfortable,” Ford said about Magna after a press conference today on the sale of a closed factory in Wixom, Michigan. “They clearly said they’ll respect our intellectual property and I believe them.” ...

Gov. Granholm Speaks from the Wixom Ford Plant on Michigan's Renewable Energy Future

Governor Granholm talks to CNBC about the ongoing efforts to diversify Michigan’s economy. The Governor was speaking from the Wixom Ford auto plant, where it was officially announced today that it will soon be the site of a renewable energy park that will bring over 4,000 jobs to the area.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Ford chairman Bill Ford Jr. and executives from the two companies investing in the project announced details of the park earlier today.
